4:8 "the quality of having experience, knowledge and good judgement"

A good friend of mine recently began questioning the idea of wisdom. What makes a person wise, how could so many people be blind to, what seems to be, such a simple concept? "Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way." It seems as simple as that, right? To dodge the slightest hint of danger and only surround yourself by positive people... But, those of us who truly contain the trait of wisdom were opened up to a world of knowledge that explores beyond what the proverb above states. Is wisdom really a trait that we want to hold? Being wise to adversity, death, pain, all means that at one point we struggled to survive through the darkness that life throws upon us. Once the light patiently emerges we finally realize that it is possible to survive the storms. But, that wisdom burdens us with the knowledge that the sun could soon burn out. A good friend of mine recently questioned the idea of wisdom... my answer to him is, maybe those who are blind to wisdom are better off.
